UT places 55 student-athletes on 2016-17 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team

Honor roll recognizes first-time/incoming freshmen that complete 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework, achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and meet participation criteria.

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas placed 55 student-athletes on the 2016-17 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, the conference office announced Thursday. UT's total of 55 ranked second among all Big 12 institutions, trailing only Baylor (62).

A total of 441 student-athletes were named to the squad, including 46 who were nominated with 4.00 grade point averages.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshmen that have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.
