The coaching search for the Texas A&M Aggies to replace Jim Schlossnagle reportedly included misses on Tennessee Volunteers head coach Tony Vitello and Virginia Cavaliers head coach Brian O’Connor before settling on Michael Earley, the hitting coach under Schlossnagle at A&M who was briefly an assistant for the Texas Longhorns this week after Schlossnagle took the job in Austin.
With Earley returning to College Station, Schlossnagle met with former assistant Troy Tulowitzki, who departed the Longhorns for a second time this week following Schlossnagle’s hire, only to return on Sunday as hitting and infield coach for the new Texas head coach, according to Kirk Bohls of the Houston Chronicle and confirmed by other outlets.
