IRVING, Texas — A total of three University of Texas players earned spots on the 2018-19 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Men's Basketball Award teams, the league office announced Sunday. Forward Jaxson Hayes was named the league's Freshman of the Year, becoming the sixth UT player to earn the accolade (joining T.J. Ford in 2001-02, Daniel Gibson in 2004-05, Kevin Durant in 2006-07, Tristan Thompson in 2010-11 and Myles Turner in 2014-15).
Hayes also claimed spots on the All-Big 12 Second Team, the six-person Big 12 All-Defensive Team, the five-person Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and the five-person Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
