Trio of Longhorns named AP All-Americans

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Texas Football defensive tackles T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II and wide receiver/punt returner Xavier Worthy were named Associated Press All-Americans, the organization announced on Monday. Sweat was named to the first team, Murphy was voted to the second team, and Worthy earned third-team accolades as an all-purpose player. It marks the third first-team All-America honor of the year for Sweat, granting him consensus All-America honors. He has also received the accolade from the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the Football Writers Association of America.

Sweat, the 2023 Outland Trophy Award winner as the nation's best interior lineman, has had a breakout season for Texas, establishing career highs with 42 tackles, 17 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and four pass breakups, while adding a blocked kick on an Iowa State point after attempt that was scooped up by Austin Jordan and returned 82 yards for a two-point score for Texas.
