PARIS, France – Texas graduate Tara Davis-Woodhall won the Paris Olympics gold medal in the long jump in her second appearance at the Olympic Games on Thursday afternoon.
Davis-Woodhall of the United States won the gold medal with her fourth-round jump of 7.10m. She was the lone competitor to jump further than seven meters and did so twice (7.05 and 7.10). This marks the second games for Davis-Woodhall and joins Canadian Richard Duncan as the only two Longhorns to be two-time long jump Olympians.
Davis-Woodhall previously finished sixth overall in the Tokyo Olympics.
Texas junior Ackelia Smith became a two-time Olympic finalist after finishing eighth overall in the long jump with her mark of 6.
