Track and Field's Alfred wins silver in 200 meters at Paris Olympics

PARIS, France – Texas standout sprinter Julien Alfred claimed her second medal in her Olympics debut on Tuesday afternoon at the Stade de France.

Alfred won the silver medal in the 200-meter dash with her time of 22.08. The St. Lucia native recently won the 100-meter gold medal with her lifetime-best time of 10.72. The gold medal was the first-ever medal for the country at the Olympics.

The seven-time NCAA champion for Texas became just the second Longhorn to ever earn a medal in the 200m at the Olympics, joining Juliet Cuthbert who also won silver in the 1992 games.
