A whole slew of adjectives have been applied to new Texas football coach Tom Herman - driven, smart, focused, demanding and ambitious among them.
If patient is applicable at all, that virtue is far, far down the list, as Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades can attest. In a previous stop as Houston AD, Rhoades had hired Herman, then the Ohio State offensive coordinator, to move the Cougars back into the national conversation.
"Tom will be boisterous and there will be times where you might have to keep a thumb on him," Rhoades said last month, "but it's always a positive.
