LUBBOCK -- The Longhorns will be without two key starters for Saturday night's game against Texas Tech.
Texas coach Tom Herman announced junior wide receiver Collin Johnson (knee) and junior safety Brandon Jones (ankle) will not play. A Texas spokesman confirmed the news.
Herman said following Thursday's practice that Johnson tweaked his knee, but he still expected the wideout to play. Johnson left Thursday's practice on crutches and was going to be evaluated again.
Herman was less optimistic about Jones on Thursday. Jones, who did not play in last week's loss to West Virginia in Austin after injuring his ankle at the team hotel prior to the game, was still day-to-day and supposed to be evaluated Friday and Saturday morning.
