Texas had a chance to put the finishing touches on a potential win against Texas Tech Friday night. Leading 23-20, the Longhorns faced a third and two in Red Raiders territory with just over two minutes remaining.
But instead of running the ball, Texas called quarterback Sam Ehlinger's number. The freshman ended up throwing an interception that Texas Tech returned to the Longhorns' 13-yard line.
The Red Raiders scored two plays later to take the lead for good. They picked off Ehlinger to seal the game on the ensuing drive.
"We weren't running the ball very well regardless of down and distance," Herman said.
