The Texas Longhorns paused all team activities on Sunday after three players and two coaches tested positive for COVID-19 following negative tests on Friday before Saturday’s game against the Kansas State Wildcats, the school announced in a press release.
Texas will test players and coaches again on Monday and Tuesday before making a determination about resuming team activities ahead of Saturday’s regular-season finale against Kansas in Lawrence. Originally scheduled for Nov. 21, the game was postponed because the Jayhawks could not meet the Big 12 minimum requirements at a position group.
Sunday’s news marks the first time that issues with Longhorns players contracting the novel coronavirus has forced a pause in team activities since the on-boarding process started in June.
