To reach the NIT Final, the Texas Longhorns had to do something they had not done all year — beat the TCU Horned Frogs. On Tuesday evening, Texas did it in convincing fashion, 58-44, after dropping both regular season matchups.
The Longhorns closed the first half on a 15-3 run to take a 14-point lead into halftime and, despite a push from the Horned Frogs, managed to hold a consistent lead.
So now all that stands in their way of winning their second NIT championship in school history is a matchup with the Lipscomb Bisons Thursday.
