AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas starting offensive lineman Kent Perkins was arrested early Friday morning on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
Perkins, the Longhorns' starter at right guard, was arrested near campus and booked into Travis County Jail at 4:54 a.m. Friday, according to jail records.
Texas coach Charlie Strong said in a statement he's still gathering facts before determining Perkins' punishment.
"We're disappointed in his actions and take a strong stance against drinking and driving," Strong said. "When you get behind the wheel after drinking, you not only risk your life, but the lives of others, and that's something you just can't do.
