Texas announced its season-opener against Notre Dame will be moved to Sunday, Sept. 4.

The move was made in an effort to increase the game's audience reach.

Texas athletics said this move will allow the game to be an "exclusive Sunday highlight of the Labor Day weekend."

"When you hear Texas Longhorns and Notre Dame Fighting Irish it grabs everyone's attention," Texas Men's Athletics Director Mike Perrin said.
