Texas safety Caden Sterns out 6-8 weeks following knee procedure

AUSTIN -- The Longhorns have now lost both starting safeties for spring camp.

Following a kids' golf clinic on Tuesday at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin Country Club, Texas coach Tom Herman told the Dallas Morning News that sophomore safety Caden Sterns will miss six to eight weeks after undergoing a procedure for patellar tendonitis Tuesday morning.

Herman said Sterns practiced on Monday. Tuesday's surgery was simply a matter of repairing a nagging injury, per Herman. The Longhorns also lost senior safety Brandon Jones for the spring back in February, when he underwent ankle surgery.
