With another two-interception performance, along with six total tackles and a pass break up, it comes to no surprise that Texas Longhorns junior safety DeShon Elliott was rewarded for his strong performance.
He is playing at a very high level of football and is quickly emerging as one of the premier safeties in college football. As a result, the first-year starter earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks (Texas was coming off a bye week).
On top of the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week recognition, Elliott was tied for the top-rated defensive player in the whole Big 12 for the week, according to Pro Football Focus.
