Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman safety BJ Allen entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday, according to a report from Inside Texas.

The 6’1, 205-pounder was a consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 125 player overall and the No. 10 safety in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. A two-time state champion at Aledo, Allen was a coveted prospect out of high school with close to 30 offers, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and USC, among others, before committing to Texas in February 2021.

But Allen failed to live up to the lofty expectations created by his offer list and rankings, failing to appear in any games as a true freshman and played in only two games this season without recording any stats despite Texas frequently rotating five safeties into games this season.
