Texas RF Max Belyeu named Big 12 Player of the Year

For the second time in the last three seasons, a Texas Longhorns standout is the Big 12 Player of the Year after sophomore right fielder Max Belyeu received that honor on Monday, the league office announced.

The breakout campaign by the 6’2, 210-pounder from Aledo included 11 of his 17 home runs coming in Big 12 play, tied for the league lead, batting .341 with 14 doubles and 49 RBI that produced a 1.147 OPS, third in the conference.

Picked by head coach David Pierce as one of the team’s most improved players during the offseason, Belyeu showed some promise in hitting .
