Texas is poised to give football coach Tom Herman a two-year contract extension.
The proposed deal, to be considered by the Texas system board of regents when they meet next Wednesday and Thursday. The agenda was posted on-line Friday evening.
Herman would make $6.5 million for the 2022 season and $6.75 million in 2023. He is scheduled to make $5.75 million next season. He will be the second highest-paid coach in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley, who is scheduled to receive $6 million in 2019.
Hired before the 2017 season, Herman led Texas to a 10-4 finish last season, including an appearance in the Big 12 championship game and a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia.
