In the space of less than a week, the Texas Longhorns have gone from one of the deepest and most talented running back rooms in the country to three healthy scholarship backs following season-ending injuries sustained by sophomore CJ Baxter and freshman Christian Clark.
All of a sudden, the situation at running back has emerged as the biggest storyline of preseason camp for the Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian and now a limiting factor for a season with the high expectations of a preseason No. 4 ranking in both polls, a second-place finish in the SEC preseason poll, and hopes of making a second straight appearance in the College Football Playoffs as it expands to 12 teams.
