The 2005 Longhorns were listed as the No. 2 top championship team in a recent Fox Sports article.
Texas fell short of the No. 1 spot as the 2001 Miami Hurricanes took the top spot.
Fox Sports writer Bruce Feldman said the Longhorns had an abundance of talent surrounding star quarterback Vince Young.
"Young was a fantastic college player, but truth be told, he also had a stacked supporting cast, especially on D," Feldman wrote. "Safeties Michael Huff and Michael Griffin became first-rounders as did CB Aaron Ross, while the other CB Cedric Griffin went second round.
