AUSTIN – Tom Herman heard a beautiful sound during Saturday’s first fall scrimmage, one he’d gladly welcome as the soundtrack to his first season as Texas’ head coach.
It wasn’t “The Eyes of Texas” or the musical stylings of Migos or Dr. Dre’s West Coast flow. No, this particular noise emanated from the throat of sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele.
“I heard him scream, which was really cool,” Herman said. “In enjoyment and in disapproval. Hearing his voice is really cool. Even the players kind of told him too, ‘Hey, you’re voice is really powerful.’ It can have a dramatic effect on the way that we respond.
