When the Erwin Center and the Denton A. Cooley Pavilion are demolished to make way for the Dell Medical School, the Texas Longhorns will have a new facility dedicated to the basketball and rowing programs located next to the Moody Center.
Approved for construction earlier this year by the Board of Regents, the approximately four-story, 75,200 square-foot facility will cost $60 million and sit just south of the intersection of Robert Dedman Drive and 20th Street, just to the south of the Moody Center.
“It will serve as the primary training facility for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Programs and Women’s Rowing Program and will include basketball courts and rooms for rowing ergometer, strength & conditioning, sports medicine, offices and meetings,” the project’s page reads.
