With Texas Longhorns offensive coordinator Tim Beck out and away from the team due to illness, offensive assistant Jordan Salkin has been temporarily promoted and will assist head coach Tom Herman from the press box during the Longhorns Saturday afternoon showdown with Kansas State.
Beck was hospitalized on Thursday with an infection and did not make the trip to Manhattan, Kansas. In Beck’s absence, Texas requested permission by the NCAA to temporarily promote Salkin.
Salkin’s official position at Texas is assistant quarterbacks coach; a role he’s held since May, 2017. Prior to that point, Salkin served as the assistant quarterbacks and running backs coach at Rutgers, and as the assistant wide receivers and special teams coach at James Madison University.
