BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the first time in Texas history, the men's track and field program were named the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Champions.
Going down to the final event, the men's 4x400 relay of Willington Wright, Jonathan Jones, Jon Maas and Brian Herron finished second with a time of 3:04.55 seconds and edged out NC A&T by scoring 47 points to their 36.
Tripp Piperi earned his sixth All-American honor in the men's shot put with a second-place finish after a season-best throw of 21.
