Retired Army Sergeant First Class will be honored during the coin toss when Texas Football hosts Kansas.
Ronnie Piatt grew up near Wichita Falls, Texas. He said his country farming community offered few chances to imagine career opportunities outside that small town.
Once he graduated high school, Piatt decided to continue a tradition established by his father and serve his country through the military. Piatt enlisted in the Army in June 1994.
"I thought I would join, gain some life experiences and then move back home," Piatt said.
In 2014, Piatt finally retired and returned home as a sergeant first class.
