The retired Army nurse and Bronze Star recipient will be honored during the coin toss when Texas Football hosts USC Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
Paula Quindlen found her life's calling by simply following her curiosity.
Her older sister went to nursing school, so Quindlen did too.
"I thought that looked interesting," she said.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Quindlen was 17 when she started nursing school. Three years later, an Army lieutenant colonel talked to one of her classes.
"Military was not something I had even considered. I had lived all my life in Connecticut.
