Production from Texas running backs was pedestrian at best in 2017, failing to gain traction on the ground following a standout 2016 season from D'Onta Foreman. No back tallied 400-plus yards, with quarterback Sam Ehlinger leading the Longhorns in rushing by season's end.
So as spring practices approach, will Texas be better suited in the running game for 2018?
The short answer is yes. There's little chance the Longhorns get less production from their backs compared to the abysmal 2017 campaign. Frustration with presumed starter Chris Warren III caused head coach Tom Herman to move the junior to tight end, and while a pair of freshmen showed flashes in Warren's absence, Ehlinger still carried a large portion of the rushing responsibilities.
