LAWRENCE, Kan. - Texas senior linebacker Gary Johnson was suspended for Saturday's regular-season finale against Kansas for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Johnson, Texas' leading tackler with 74 (including a team-best 14 for loss and 5.5 sacks), is the fifth Longhorn to be suspended for non-targeting violations this year but the first to sit for more than a quarter. Texas announced the suspension before facing Kansas with a trip to the Big 12 championship game Dec. 1 at AT&T Stadium at stake.
Freshman DeMarvion Overshown is listed behind Johnson on the Texas depth chart.
