The 2022 recruiting class for the Texas Longhorns has another member with Thursday’s pledge from McKinney forward Alex Anamekwe, who signed with the SMU Mustangs last November and was released from his National Letter of Intent last month after the SMU head coach retired.
A 6’6, 195-pounder who led McKinney to the 6A state title game with two buzzer-beating baskets in the playoffs, Anamekwe originally chose SMU over Alabama and Houston before taking an official visit to the Forty Acres in April and picking Texas.
A wing, Anamekwe averaged 10.7 points and 6.6 rebounds for McKinney as a senior.
