Texas never found clarity at the quarterback position in 2017, shuffling between then-sophomore Shane Buechele and freshman Sam Ehlinger. Neither started more than seven games for the Longhorns, with the starter often determined by availability. Both Buechele and Ehlinger battled injuries throughout the season, each missing five-plus contests.
But that's not to say there wasn't production from the Longhorns' signal callers. Buechele completed over 63 percent of passes in five starts, while Ehlinger showed prowess as a dual threat, leading the team in rushing while tossing 11 touchdowns. And as spring practice approaches, head coach Tom Herman has yet to declare a top quarterback.
