Rather than calling Texas home, Iowa Western C.C. defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey will soon suit up against the Longhorns at least once each season.
On Wednesday, the 6’4, 305-pound interior presence brought his recruitment to a close and took to Twitter to announce his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners.
Currently considered the fifth-best JUCO prospect and the top-ranked JUCO defensive tackle, per 247Sports, Perrion released his top eight schools just weeks ago on May 26, naming Texas Alabama, LSU, Penn State, Oregon, Nebraska, Florida State, and, of course, Oklahoma as his finalists. The Longhorns’ inclusion among Winfrey’s top group took place despite Texas offering just weeks earlier on May 10, but nevertheless, Winfrey said Texas “feels like family” and that he was aiming to visit Austin soon.
