Following the longest break of the season and a 9-0 victory over the Incarnate Word Cardinals on Tuesday, the Texas Longhorns start the final regular season series of the 2019 campaign on Thursday evening against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Still stuck in last place in the Big 12 standings, Texas is no longer in contention for an at-large NCAA tournament bid and faces a difficult road to the Big 12 Championship — the Longhorns need to sweep the Sooners or win two of three games and get a sweep by the Jayhawks over the Wildcats in Lawrence.
Avenging the March loss against the Cardinals was a good start for the Horns and there is reason to believe that the team was able to improve during the 11 days since the last conference game.
