When Tom Herman was hired as the new head coach for the Texas Football program on Nov. 26, 2016, many fans breathed a sigh of relief. After three losing seasons and very anemic offenses under Charlie Strong, the Longhorns now had a coach with a proven track record of being a good play caller, developing quarterbacks, and winning games that they were favored to lose. It looked as though Texas football would be back as one of the elite college football programs in a short amount of time.
The first season did not go as planned however. Herman led the Longhorns to a 7-6 season, which was the first winning season since 2013, but there were many problems as well.
