In the second installment of the Texas Football “Freak of the Week” award, Tom Herman and the Texas coaching staff recognized Kyle Porter and DeShon Elliott.
Porter filled in for starting RB Chris Warren and incoming freshman star Toneil Carter after both were sidelined with injuries.
The Texas coaching staff was impressed, as Porter took “Freak of the Week” honors on the offensive side.
The first offensive winner was QB Shane Buechele, setting in motion Buechele’s rise as the frontrunner in the QB battle with Sam Ehlinger.
On the defensive side, junior DB DeShon Elliott won the second “Freak of the Week.
