The Allstate Sugar Bowl promised some intriguing action as the final New Year’s Six Bowl game before the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 7. Texas football and the Georgia Bulldogs squared off at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA, on New Years Day 2019 to decide this Sugar Bowl showdown between two blue blood programs.
For the Texas football program, this is the first New Year’s Six Bowl game appearance during the College Football Playoff-era. This was a symbol of the progress made under head Texas football coach Tom Herman in just his second year on the Forty Acres.
