Head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee got the 2025 Texas football recruiting class off the ground last weekend. Texas landed a commitment from the highly touted four-star Saraland (AL) quarterback KJ Lacey, who was the first to pledge to the 2025 class for Sark and his staff.
Sark and the Longhorns landed Lacey’s commitment over other schools that had offered and he had visited such as the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Ole Miss Rebels, Tennessee Volunteers, and a few other P5 programs.
Lacey’s commitment not only came as a bit of a surprise last weekend in the midst of Texas’ Elite Camp, but it also is something that can give the Longhorns a lot of momentum on the recruiting trail for the rest of the summer.
