A nightmare scenario took place for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class and former fourth-year head coach Tom Herman last fall when the group broke apart in a span of just 48 hours. At the time when Texas held a commitment from the elite five-star Southlake Carroll pro-style quarterback Quinn Ewers (who originally gave his pledge back in mid-August 2020), there were three prospects in total in the 2022 class.
And it looked like Herman and the Longhorns were going to be in contention to potentially have the best recruiting class in the nation for the 2022 cycle.
