Texas football is looking at a quarterback battle this fall that is four deep. Two of those quarterbacks are incoming freshmen that would have to show up huge in fall camp and any shots they do get early in the regular season. The other two quarterbacks include one sophomore and one junior.
Last season, the opportunity to win the starting quarterback job for the Longhorns was split between then freshman Sam Ehlinger and sophomore Shane Buechele. The two incoming freshmen four-star quarterbacks in Casey Thompson and Cameron Rising made their way to campus as spring enrollees.
So, the first action at the college level for both Thompson and Rising came in spring camp and in the spring football game.
