If not for a few lower body injuries he experienced during his true freshman campaign last season with Texas football, to-be sophomore running back Keaontay Ingram would’ve been much closer to totaling 1,000 yards from scrimmage. Texas football has a decent backfield heading into 2019, but there’s not much experience across the board.
Most of the carries for Texas this year should be split between Ingram and true freshman former five-star recruit Jordan Whittington. In spring ball, head Texas football coach Tom Herman moved Whittington from wide receiver to running back to utilitize his versatility and add depth in the backfield.
