Texas football running back Keaontay Ingram was named a preseason candidate for the 2019 Doak Walker Award on Wednesday. The PwC SMU Athletic Forum presents this award annually to the country’s top running back. Ingram could be in the mix for that award this fall.
Three other Longhorn backs have won the Doak Walker Award in previous years. Ricky Williams won the award in back to back years in 1997 and 1998. Cedric Benson (2004) and D’Onta Foreman (2016) also took the trophy home.
The 2019 recipient will be awarded on December 12 as apart of The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
