The 2019 Texas football recruiting class was marked by a handful of key storylines back on National Signing Day 2019 in early February. One of those key storylines involved the four-star Houston, TX, offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd. Head Texas football coach Tom Herman tried to keep rivaling programs on the recruiting trail like the Texas A&M Aggies, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Georgia Bulldogs from snagging Shepherd on National Signing Day.
But the Texas Longhorns football program was able to hang onto Shepherd’s commitment and get his signed National Letter of Intent when it was all said and done.
