The news that most had to be expecting to some degree dropped on April 3 from a press conference on media availability with head Texas football coach Tom Herman. He announced that the Texas football program would be without the services of the talented former four-star California native linebacker signee De’Gabriel Floyd for the entirety of spring ball.
Considering Floyd was one of the higher ranked signees from the 2019 Texas football recruiting class that enrolled early on the Forty Acres, this could be a decent void for the defense. Floyd was set to be a linebacker that could’ve competed for some playing time for the fall with the opportunity potentially presented to him in spring camp and the Orange-White Game.
