Any departure the level of former star Texas football linebacker Malik Jefferson makes for a difficult road for the rest of the players in that position group the following year. In this case, the Longhorns have a huge need to be addressed during the off-season. One linebacker spot still has an uncertainty as to who will be starting come Week 1.
The other two starting linebackers slots will be manned by two seniors in Anthony Wheeler and a JUCO transfer last year in Gary Johnson. Both Wheeler and Johnson saw a ton of action last season. Although neither sat in as big of spotlight as Jefferson did.
