In a statement released by Texas AD Mike Perrin, the decision is that Reese Leitao will keep his scholarship and be eligible to play Tight End for Texas Football in the 2017 season.
That is welcome news on the football side since Texas lacks TE depth. The question is whether this was the right personnel decision.
Last week, Leitao pled guilty to a reduced charge stemming from an arrest for drug possession and distribution outside of his high school in Oklahoma. Leitao was placed on four-year probation and given a long list of community service-related requirements during his probation.
