The Texas high school football playoffs will begin tonight, and the teams of 22 Texas Longhorn commits will get to play at least one more game in the 2019 season. At least eight play for teams that should be considered legitimate state championship contenders, so these recap/preview posts should continue well into December.
Going into the final week of the regular season, the teams of 21 of the 26 recruits then committed to the Texas Longhorns had already clinched playoff spots, and four others still had a mathematical chance to do so. When the dust settled on last week’s action, two more future Longhorns, both from the 2021 class saw their season extended for one more week, while a pair of 2020 commits both lost and saw their senior seasons come to an end.
