The 2019 Texas high school football regular season is now halfway done. Eight Texas Longhorn commits had a bye last week, eight who played were able to help their teams maintain an unbeaten record, a 2020 commit helped his team knock off a state-ranked foe, and a 2021 commit came up short against a ranked team but earned plaudits despite the defeat.
This week’s big game involving a UT commit is annually one of the state’s most anticipated rivalry games, period: Lake Travis versus Austin Westlake. 2020 QB Hudson Card will aim to lead his Lake Travis Cavaliers to a win over the Westlake Chaparrals in his senior year after losing handily to them as a junior in 2018.
