The injury bug bit the Texas football program very hard on the defensive side of the ball so far this season. The secondary in particular was hit hard and head Texas football coach Tom Herman and defensive coordinator Todd Orlando were left scrambling for answers at about the worst point of the 2019 regular season schedule.
The expectation for the Texas Longhorns football program this season was at the very least a return to the Big 12 Championship Game and furthered success on the path to an appearance in the College Football Playoff. That hope and expectation could very well still be alive after a big 27-24 home win over the Kansas State Wildcats last weekend.
