The first team that is sitting just outside the Week 9 AP Poll in the top five is No. 6 ranked Texas football. It’s also a surprise to many that the Longhorns made it this far with a 6-1 (4-0 Big 12) record. We are also close to seeing where Texas football ranks in the first set of College Football Playoff rankings of the season.
The first edition of the Playoff rankings will come out after the conclusion of Week 9, and every week thereafter until the official postseason field is announced. If Texas takes care of business this weekend against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road, it should have quarterback Sam Ehlinger healthy the rest of the way and the team will have plenty of confidence.
