In a very long game for the Texas football program that featured quite a few ups and downs, the turnout from the Red River Rivalry was ultimately positive. The Longhorns walked out of the Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas with a 48-45 nail-biting victory won by true freshman kicker Cameron Dicker.
Texas actually entered this game as touchdown underdogs against then ranked No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners. The over/under was also set at just 61.5 points, which wound up getting blown out of the water by a good margin. With the 93 total points scored in the game, it was both an exciting and fast paced outing that few fans probably could’ve expected.
