Big news dropped for the Texas football program on Dec. 15, with the announcement that the next defensive coordinator under head coach Tom Herman would be former Rutgers Scarlet Knights head coach Chris Ash. According to a 247Sports report, Ash is expected to be named the Texas defensive coordinator, replacing the fired Todd Orlando.
Ash was a solid defensive coordinator candidate for a plethora of teams around the country. But there’s a number of other big names that emerged that Texas could’ve gone after. Coaching candidates are starting to get hired away all over the country right now, and that’s why Texas had to jump on landing Ash if they truly wanted him to be their next defensive coordinator.
